DOG ALLERGIES

Because dog allergies can be caused by a variety of stimuli, from foods such as wheat to airborne allergens like pollen, which can be difficult to determine if your pet suffers from allergies. Since there are four different types of allergens that cause reactions and discomfort for our dogs, it is best to know the symptoms for each type of allergen.

Dogs can suffer from seasonal allergies, including humans. Symptoms of dog allergy or inhalant allergens in the air include: coughing, sneezing and watery eyes. If your dog is suffering from seasonal allergies talk to your veterinarian about medications, ranging from vitamins to antihistamines and steroids, which can help your dog.

Other allergies that may increase during spring to autumn allergies sometimes fleas and ticks. The symptoms of the reactions of fleas and ticks are: bite or chew on the legs and skin, chewing, hair loss, itching and inflammation. If your dog shows signs of flea allergy or hypoallergenic tick tick and flea bath and flea and tick topical medication regularly may be the best way to help your dog.

Food allergies are an immune system reaction to certain foodstuffs. May be inherited or developed on the basis of the foodstuff. Diarrhea, ear infections, hair loss, itching, scratching, skin infections, and vomiting are the symptoms of food allergies. If you think your dog has food allergies or changing the foods you are eating brands containing fewer loads and more "real food" or consult your veterinarian.

Contact allergies can also cause your dog discomfort. Items such as detergents or other powders or liquids that come in contact with skin may cause these allergic reactions, blisters, hives, rashes or darkening and thickening of the skin. If your dog is showing symptoms of contact allergies try to determine what he or she is allergic to the removal of possible allergens one by one, or that he or she is tested by a veterinarian.
